- Roast the jalapeños over an open flame, then immediately transfer them to an airtight container to steam.
Drain and rinse the black beans.
Once cooled, peel the jalapeños, and remove their skins and seeds.
In a food processor, blend the black beans and jalapeños until smooth.
Mince the garlic and sauté in a large, hot sauté pan with a little neutral oil until soft.
To the sauté pan, add the black bean and jalapeño mixture, cream cheese, kosher salt, and Smoky BBQ sauce. Cook, stirring continuously, until the mixture is uniform and the cream cheese has melted.
Transfer the bean mixture to an oven-safe dish.
Shred the cheddar cheese and sprinkle it over the bean mixture.
Place the dish under a broiler and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Slice the green onions and sprinkle them on top of the dish before serving.
Serve with chips, tortillas, or your choice of sides.
